Hello friends and family (Sawadee Ka, I should say),

I apologize that I have been rather out of touch for the past two weeks. We have just returned from spending two weeks on Koh Phi Phi, a small island in southern Thailand with no roads! The days slipped by in the sweet oblivion that accompanies white sand, turquoise water, and drinking cool milk from coconuts freshly sliced from the tree! Time passed with monkey encounters, snorkeling, kayaking, and soccer games with the local Thai people, certainly an exquisite vacation! (I will post pictures soon) Although I am ready to rejoin the world and i must say that i have been hungry for a newspaper!

Today we attended Glenn's sister's wedding. The ceremonies began at 7 in the morning with the hypnotic chanting of monks. It was a lovely event, although i understood next to nothing - and was something of a spectacle, being the only strange looking blond, blue-eyed "farong." I am sure that i was amusing with my clumsy Buddhist prayer, but enjoyed it very much.
I leave for Uganda tomorrow where I will meet up with my father and hike the Ruwenzori mountains. I will post again after the climb, around February 20th, also when Glenn flies in from Denmark.
I hope you are all well,
Please keep me updated!
With love,
Kristen
